Effective Ward Manager Conference – Birmingham

In May I’ll be speaking again at the Effective Ward Manager Conference. It’s always an interesting and entertaining event with good speakers, efficient organisation and there are always a few challenging questions from a diverse group of participants. It’s chaired by Jonathan Willis, Ward Manager, Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust. Speakers include Paul Jebb, Experience of Care Lead at NHS England and Ellen Armistead, Deputy Chief Executive (Acute) from the Care Quality Commission.

My section of the day will cover:

understanding your rights as a budget holder

ensuring you use finance as a resource by building on your relationship with your accountant

finding out the financial rules which govern your management of budgets

taking time to review how your ward is running from a business and financial perspective

tips and advice for Ward Managers managing budgets
