It was chaired Dr Sabarigirivasan Muthukrishnan, past Clinical Director of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

My section of the day covered ‘Managing the clinical directorate budgets, finances and resources’:

• understanding the clinical director’s financial governance role
• building your relationship with your accountant
• finding the financial rules which govern your management of budgets
• reviewing your directorate’s finances
